Prendergast gets all his ducks in a Row as Canary strikes

Curragh trainer Patrick Prendergast really got a kick out of winning the feature Vincent O'Brien Ruby Stakes on the opening day of Killarney's August festival, and especially as it came with stable standing dish Canary Row.

The Richard Barnes-owned seven-year-old was the oldest horse in the race by some distance, and was winning at this level for the first time with the soft ground definitely playing to his strengths.

Most things fell right during the race for rider Ronan Whelan, as he was to the outside and in the clear while favourite Psychedelic Funk was squeezed up when going for a gap which may well have won the race for him had it not closed.
