Pogo was branded a "proper horse" by rider Kieran Shoemark after the duo blitzed to a five-and-a-half length success in the Listed Bombardier British Hopped Amber Beer Midsummer Stakes.

Cleverly named by Zebedee out of Diktat mare Cute, Pogo had run a screamer to finish third in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot just 11 days previous and bounced out of that race to make his mark at Listed level for the first time.

"He's a bit of a favourite," said a delighted Shoemark, making it six consecutive winning days in the saddle. "This horse is so straightforward and willing. He's crept up into a proper horse.
