PJ McDonald and Karl Burke in flying form with maiden scorer Lady Hemana
Wednesday: Wolverhampton
Lady Hamana provided jockey PJ McDonald with his third success on the bounce as she stormed to a decisive debut victory in the 5f novice.
The two-year-old filly powered clear by three and three-quarter lengths under McDonald, who returned to the track fresh from a double on Tuesday night.
Although heavy downpours forced Kempton to cancel its evening card, the rain was welcome at Wolverhampton, with McDonald enjoying the benefits of the lower temperatures.
"The rain made a difference," he said. "When you get that warm weather it doesn't ride great, it's much better with cooler air on it."
Lady Hamana's success advertised the strong form of trainer Karl Burke, who moved on to 87 winners for the year.
"Karl's horses are absolutely flying at the moment and I have plenty of confidence riding them," McDonald added. "He was quite happy for me to kick her out of the gates and was quietly bullish. Everything went smoothly."
McDonald has a day off on Thursday but will be hoping to continue his good week when he heads to York for the final two days of the Ebor festival.
The King George-winning jockey has three rides on the Knavesmire on Friday before partnering Regional in the Sky Bet Constantine Handicap on Saturday.
Result reversed
There was a dramatic start to proceedings when the Mick Appleby-trained Glasstrees was awarded the 5f handicap following prolonged deliberations by the stewards, who deemed that first-past-the-post Street Life had caused enough interference to affect the outcome.
The result was amended despite the interference being ruled accidental.
