Perseverance pays for Henderson as Laurium storms back to form

Champion trainer Nicky Henderson once again sprinkled the Seven Barrows stardust as Laurium bounced back from a spell in the wilderness to land the feature 3m1½f handicap chase.

Having suffered two odds-on reverses earlier on the card, it was looking like a forgettable day for Henderson but the longest-priced of his three runners, a horse pulled-up on his last three runs, soared back to form to put the smile back on his trainer’s face.

“When you’ve got three Ps in front of your name you do start to doubt, but I’ve always had a bit of faith in him,” said Henderson.
