Shantou Village made the perfect start to his chasing career and threw in an educational mistake at the last for good measure to have his 2-11 backers catch their breath before his stroll home.

The Grade 2 winner over hurdles who was one of the few Cheltenham Festival favourites to fail was left to come home unchallenged after the Paul Nicholls-trained Abidjan fell five out.
