Perfect day for Tom Lacey as sparkling double extends best-ever campaign
Monday: Taunton
Tom Lacey is enjoying a terrific campaign and took his tally to 40 with a double on the card from his only two runners.
Highstakesplayer started the ball rolling in the 2m3f handicap hurdle under Dylan Kitts and Lacey struck again when Dibble Decker took the 2m½f handicap hurdle for in-form Stan Sheppard.
"Highstakesplayer did it well, it was his last opportunity to run in that grade, and Dibble Decker seems to be progressing nicely," Lacey said.
"We have surpassed our best season numerically and in prize-money, so it has been very good. We have a brilliant team of people at home. I have a head man who could work anywhere in the world, so my life is pretty easy."
The Herefordshire trainer has saddled six winners from his last ten runners and heads to Cheltenham in flying form with three runners across the four days. Tea Clipper goes for the Ultima Handicap Chase and Glory And Fortune is in the Champion Hurdle on day one, while Adrimel heads to the Craft Irish Whiskey Co. Plate on Thursday.
"The horses are in great nick and we’re looking forward to running them," Lacey said. "I wish the ground was a bit quicker for Tea Clipper but it can’t be slow enough for Adrimel. Glory And Fortune will be fine on it and it might just help him if it slows things down a little bit for him."
Revels for Fry
Trainer Harry Fry recorded an across-the-card double with Revels Hill justifying favouritism in the 3m4½f handicap chase, quickly followed by On My Command's success at Plumpton.
