Never Back Down, virtually unsteerable at Lingfield on Good Friday, was clearly suited by the return to a straight course when making all in the Listed Carnarvon Stakes under Silvestre de Sousa, earning himself a crack at the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot next month.

The performance forced Paddy Power to trim the son of Kodiac's odds to 20-1 (from 66).
