Palmer newcomer Powerful Breeze dazzles with authoritative Newmarket debut

Powerful Breeze evoked memories of owner Dr Ali Ridha's German 1,000 Guineas heroine Unforgetable Filly when running out an impressive winner of a potentially hot Newmarket event in the 7f fillies' novice, obliging by two and three-quarters of a length at odds of 20-1.

The daughter of Iffraaj displayed greenness by edging right inside the final furlong but was always well in control under David Egan, with various well-bred types strung out across the July course in behind.

Trainer Hugo Palmer, who is pondering Pattern assignments for his filly, said: "She's come to hand very quickly – three weeks ago she wasn't ready to run.
