There was no Poet's Word in the feature 1m2f handicap this year but the owners of Nonios were not complaining after their David Simcock-trained six-year-old just got up to land the £45,000 pot.

The 2,000gns purchase won just shy of 15 times that amount when getting up to deny the gallant Greatest Journey under a considerate ride from Martin Harley.

Winning owners Millingbrook Racing were out in force and the cheer when the result of the photograph was announced must have carried all the way to nearby Braintree.
