The memory of Thistlecrack's King George domination still burns brightly, and he has all but won the Timico Gold Cup according to the betting.

Ireland's premier three-mile chase for the festive period, the Lexus, did not lack for drama and it unearthed a potential challenger to Colin Tizzard's star in Outlander.

Now with Gordon Elliott as part of the Gigginstown/Willie Mullins dispersal, the eight-year-old started his year with a Grade 1 win at Leopardstown and repeated the feat to round off his 2016.
