Onderun shows rivals clean pair of heels to secure Lavelle double

Emma Lavelle stole the show as she saddled a 23-1 double with impressive newcomer Buster Thomas, who landed the 2m3½f novice hurdle, and Onderun, who showed stamina in abundance to win the feature 2m7½f handicap chase.

Onderun, partnered by David Noonan, was making his first start since January but showed no signs of ring-rust as he bounced into the lead and jumped boldly on his way to registering an eight-length win.

Lavelle said: "He was all wrong last year but he's come back and felt so much better at home. My husband Barry [Fenton, former jockey] has been the making of this horse. He said we needed to give him time, so we did."
