Oisin Orr ties with Andy Slattery in apprentice title after last-day Naas drama

The only title left to be decided going into the final day of the season at Naas was the apprentice championship, and what a finish it provided.

With Andy Slattery leading Oisin Orr 43-41 at the start of the day, the odds were considerably in the former's favour, and it seemed even more so after the opening juvenile maiden, when Orr's mount Soul Seeker was touched off in the final stride by a nose.

The thought of the championship being decided by that was almost unbearable, but the young Donegal rider came back strongly and rode the Eddie Lynam-trained Tide Of Time to a convincing success in the sprint handicap which followed.
