O'Brien bags Ballysax win number ten as Nobel Prize springs surprise

It is usually a race that sparks Derby dreams but there was no such fascination surrounding the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes on Sunday, run after the Epsom and Curragh Classics and even more peculiarly held at Dundalk for the first time.

Epsom highlighted that it's not only equine talent that is blooded on the Ballydoyle gallops, with Emmet McNamara taking advantage of his opportunity aboard Serpentine, and the Ballysax provided Killian Hennessy with his shot at the big time aboard Nobel Prize.

The race appeared to revolve around Aidan O'Brien's Monarch Of Egypt, ridden patiently over the 1m2½f trip, but he never took flight, leaving stablemate Nobel Prize to virtually make all.
