Henry de Bromhead has long been considered the king of the two-mile chasers and Notebook bolstered the trainer’s hand in that division by running out an ultra-impressive winner of an eventful Grade 2 Poplar Square Chase at Naas.

There was an unbelievable amount of pace on in the race and Rachael Blackmore elected to take a lead coming down to the first, where short-priced favourite Cash Back crashed out having charged down to the obstacle.

Even with Cash Back falling at the first, there was enough pace in the race to allow the often-keen Notebook to sit last of the three for much of the contest, a notable change in tactics from last year.
