Jockey Franny Norton has had some days to remember on the Roodee but yesterday was one to forget as he was taken to hospital for checks on a suspected collarbone injury following a bad fall.

Norton’s mount Thomas Cranmer appeared to clip heels as the runners rounded the home turn in the 7f nursery and the jockey was catapulted to the turf.

Clerk of the course Andrew Morris said: “He is conscious and alert but has a suspected collarbone injury and has been taken to Countess of Chester Hospital for x-rays.”
