Noel Meade and Colin Keane land Ulster Cesarewitch with 'revelation'
Friday: Down Royal
Noel Meade and Colin Keane have been a formidable force in the Ulster Cesarewitch in recent times, and the pair made it win number three in the Down Royal highlight with Sheishybrid.
Bred by race starter Joe Banahan, the daughter of Mastercraftsman was impressive when last seen winning over hurdles at Ballinrobe 11 days ago, and she built on that performance with another brilliant showing here as 5-2 favourite.
The four-year-old travelled strongly throughout under Keane and she showed a good attitude to fend off the veteran Peregrine Run in the closing stages to run out a length-and-a-quarter victor, with the pair pulling well clear of Rich Belief in third.
Meade said: "She's improved since we stepped her up in trip on the Flat and that long trip seemed to suit her really well. She's enjoying the jumping too. She doesn't like very soft ground so we'll probably rest her over the winter. I think there's plenty of fun to be had with her."
Keane added: "She's been a revelation since stepping up in trip and going jumping. It seems to have sweetened her up. I thought she quickened well down the road the whole way to the line. I think this filly is improving nicely."
