Lysander Belle left the stalls problems that have blighted her early career behind her as she breezed clear to win the opening 6f handicap under Shane Kelly.

The three-year-old filly, who as recently as Monday dented her chances after an awkward start at Chelmsford, broke well from stall two and quickened off the home turn to put a length and a half between herself and favourite Perfect Swiss.

Trainer Sophie Leech, who was celebrating her first Flat winner of the year, said: "She's taken a bit of time to grow up but if she does break you can get her going forward and that seems to be the key – she doesn't like being dropped in at all.
