Scores of wise punters made their way to Huntingdon looking for a star and found one in the shape of Rather Be, who continued his perfect start to life over hurdles with a comprehensive success.

Ninth in the Champion Bumper in March, the Nicky Henderson-trained Rather Be was 1-2 favourite to follow up his debut win at Hereford in October and never gave his backers a moment of worry.

The margin to Forza Milan in second was only two and a half lengths but that did little to reflect Rather Be's superiority in the 2m3½f novice hurdle.
