There was no fairytale return to the saddle for Grand National-winning rider Ryan Mania at Ayr after five years out with weight issues.

The 30-year-old jockey, who won the Aintree showpiece on Auroras Encore in 2013, had two rides back and fared best when seventh on Fair Minx in the opener.

The latter might have run better had she not lost a shoe during her effort behind Aurora Thunder. Mania then rode Largy Perk, who finished unplaced in the following novice hurdle.
