No big screen causes headache all round at popular meeting

Who needs a big screen? Well racegoers, actually, who were not impressed after one failed to turn up at the track’s bank holiday family fun day.

More than 5,000 came through the gates. But with a funfair in the middle of the course, probably the best view of the far side of the track was from one of the chair-o-planes.

“It’s poor,” said Plumpton member and Fontwell regular Steve Peake, 57, who had travelled along the coast from Hove with wife Jill and father-in-law Colin Bagley.
