Newlyweds celebrate in style with Marten the mischievous sire
Local tipster Marten Julian sponsored the opening race on the day his daughter Natasha got married in the village and mischievously entitled it the Tash & Rob "I'll Give It 6 Months" Wedding Novices' Hurdle.
The meeting was taking place just two days after racing had to be abandoned after the fourth contest on Saturday, following an inch of rain in an hour, and although it was again wet in the morning racing was never in danger.
The rain did not spoil any enjoyment of Tash's wedding to Rob Warwick, presided over by racecourse chaplain Nick Devenish, with her proud father saying: "It's been a great day, we had a lovely service at the Priory and we've had the reception at the course."
