'My father was told to fork up the money and he did!' - family win for Enrights
Wednesday: Dundalk
Mark Enright delivered a family success when he partnered Chutzpal to take the 2m handicap for trainer Jennifer Anne Lynch and owner Jerry Enright, who is his father.
The three-year-old had finished second and third at the same track last month and Enright was thrilled to deliver for connections.
“He’s owned by my father, who retired last year,” Enright told Racing TV. “He was on holiday in the US last year, came back and was told to fork up the money – and he did! I’m delighted he won."
Keane on song
Champion jockey Colin Keane had his 107th winner of the year as Coolcalmncollected proved exactly that for trainer Ciaran Murphy to land the 6f nursery.
“He seemed to handle the track well,” said Keane. “He’s a big, scopey horse for a two-year-old. I don’t think we’ll see the best of him until next year. He could go up to seven furlongs or even a mile."
Stablemates dominate
Five-time beaten favourite River Rain finally got her head in front in a 1-2 for in-form trainer Joseph O’Brien in the 1m4f maiden. She held on to beat stablemate and 6-4 favourite Dancing Tango.
It was one of two 1-2s as Edward Lynam saw his recent good run at Dundalk continue as Selective Power ridden by Chris Hayes saw off stablemate Linus Larrabee by a neck in division one of the 7f handicap.
