'My agent's doing a great job' - Cobden's red-hot run continues with McFabulous
Monday: Exeter
Harry Cobden continued his flying form in the saddle as McFabulous returned to winning ways in the 2m3f novice chase.
The jockey completed a swift double when the odds-on Timeforatune won by 13 lengths in the 2m½f novice hurdle, taking his astonishing record to 22 wins from his last 37 rides.
Cobden said: "My agent is doing a great job at the minute and I’m getting some nice outside rides, so I can’t complain. Paul’s [Nicholls] horses are in flying form too."
It was not, however, all plain sailing for McFabulous as the well-backed Camprond unseated Aidan Coleman after the first fence and almost made contact with the remainder of the field on a number of occasions.
Cobden said: "He [Camprond] was playing with us for a little bit, but overall I was pleased because McFabulous couldn’t have done anymore.
"I was delighted with him. He jumped really well and got the job done because Dan Skelton’s horse [Unexpected Party] looked strong.
"I’m sure Paul will have a plan soon about where he’ll go next, but he’s quite versatile and you could run him over 2m5f or even 3m. He’s certainly one of our novice chasers to go to war with this season."
Gale on the board
Conditional jockey Elizabeth Gale celebrated her first victory when partnering the Philip Hobbs-trained Langley Hundred, who also registered a maiden win.
The five-year-old, who finished runner-up on his seasonal reappearance at Worcester last month, edged out course specialist Raddon Top by a short head in the opening 2m7f handicap hurdle.
