Amy Murphy scored her first Flat winner as a trainer when Shan Dun Na Ngall found breathing space at the critical moment to beat the smooth-travelling Top Set in the 1m5½f handicap at 16-1.

The win looked unlikely when the £3,500 recruit from Gordon Elliott appeared stuck on the rail. However, ridden by her partner Lemos de Souza, Shan Dun Na Ngall ate up the ground in the final stages.

"It actually didn't go to plan," said Murphy. "We planned to make the running and make it a stamina stretch. I thought he was never going to get out but when he did, he flew."
