Amy Murphy calls Goodwood her favourite course, but she might end up falling in love with Plumpton too if it becomes a successful launch pad for Kalashnikov’s career over fences.

The 26-year-old trainer has her eye on a novice chase at the Sussex track, which traditionally offers a bonus for horses who follow up with a win at the Cheltenham Festival.

Take that as an indicator of how highly she rates her Supreme Novices’ hurdle runner-up, who is a top-priced 10-1 for the Racing Post Arkle at Cheltenham on March 12.
