Although Mark Johnston was firing some of his bigger guns on the Sussex Downs, the Kingsley Park trainer still likes to have winners with some of his lesser lights and was on the mark with La Casa Tarifa in the 5f juvenile maiden.

The youngster was ridden by Paul Mulrennan, who is one of the leading riders at the Yorkshire course in recent seasons, and he showed just why when always being in the right position before switching his mount at the furlong pole to hit the front and win from favourite Jeany.
