Not many horses go close to earning their purchase price back by winning one race but that was the case with the William Muir-trained Cuttin' Edge after he landed the 6f juvenile maiden under a well-judged ride from George Baker.

Muir explained: "He cost 50,000gns and he has just won his owners well over £40,000 in prize money and bonuses for winning the race and whichever way you look at it, that is a good deal all round.
