Muffri'Ha the class act as qualifying series gets under way

The road to All-Weather Championships Finals Day begins at Lingfield this afternoon with a mile qualifier for the 32Red Fillies and Mares Championship (3.20pm), in which Darley Stakes heroine Muffri’Ha is the headline act.

Having beaten Carry On Derryck and the returning Johannes Vermeer over 1m1f the daughter of Iffraaj is saddled with a 5lb Group 3 penalty, but trainer William Haggas remains enthusiastic about her chances.

"She has improved a lot and normally I would have put her away but she has been in such good form that our two options were here or California," said Haggas. "We decided to try and get her qualified and, while she has a stiff task with a penalty, she is drawn well which I think is important."
