Mossy Fen bolsters Nigel Twiston-Davies novice team after Grade 2 Warwick strike

Nigel Twiston-Davies has a pair of exciting novice hurdlers and Mossy Fen paid a handsome compliment to stablemate Redford Road when landing the Grade 2 Leamington Novices' Hurdle.

While the Warwick race did not appear an outstanding renewal beforehand, Mossy Fen still had to run to a pretty useful level to pick off 145-rated standard-bearer Decor Irlandais in second.

The Leamington has proved a fair trial for the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle in recent years, with Willoughby Court (2017) and The New One (2013) going on to festival glory, but the manner in which Mossy Fen ground out victory suggested a step up in trip for the Albert Bartlett, for which he was introduced at 20-1, would be more suitable at Cheltenham.
