Morley dreaming of big-race success with sprint winner Royal Birth

Tom Morley, who has owned two King's Stand and a Wokingham Stakes winner, was back at Ascot collecting another valuable sprint prize yesterday when Royal Birth claimed the £100,000 totescoop6 Heritage Handicap.

Morley's buying of ready-made horses because he likes "instant disappointment rather than gradual pain" is his hobby. However, at Ascot, where he has celebrated victories with Prohibit, Goldream and this year Outback Traveller, the Suffolk arable farmer has been making hay.

Royal Birth, picked up by Morley for 20,000gns after being disposed of by Qatar Racing, prevailed in a blanket finish in which the first seven were separated by barely a length.
