Monsoon-like weather fails to rain on Ben Curtis's parade

The relentless rain put a dampener on proceedings but jockey Ben Curtis was just glad to be back riding and he marked his return from injury with victory on Daawy in the 1m2f handicap.

Curtis, who dislocated his right shoulder when he was unshipped on Newcastle winner Sugarloaf Mountain after the line 13 days earlier, picked up where he left off as the Roger Fell-trained winner beat stablemate Mulligatawny by half a length.

"It's good to be back and brilliant to get a winner, and I'll be looking to kick on again," said Curtis, who is enjoying his best year with 103 winners on the board.
