Martin Molony, one of the greatest ever dual-purpose riders who was crowned champion six times in Ireland, was fondly remembered at his local Limerick racecourse yesterday with the feature 1m4f Stakes race run in his memory.

One-time Derby favourite Zawraq proved to be a bitterly disappointing favourite and returned lame after trailing home last of the seven runners.

It was the rapidly-improving Joseph O’Brien-trained Detailed who narrowly got the better of Cannonball in the finish, and after the race, winning rider Wayne Lordan said: “She's a progressive filly and she's very tough.”
