Mitchell records 499th winner and looks to Fifth Position to reach milestone

Victory in Saturday's John Smith's Cup at York will be even more significant for jockey Jack Mitchell as he moved just one win away from securing his 500th career success with Run Forrest Run.

Mitchell continued his fine run this month with victory in the median auction stakes aboard the George Baker-trained juvenile, his 11th strike in July.

And now the rider, 31, looks to hit the milestone in York's illustrious handicap with Fifth Position, a leading contender following his Doncaster win last time.
