The awesome power of Willie Mullins's string at the top level has been displayed over the Christmas period with 17 winners in three days, but Gordon Elliott struck back well on Wednesday by landing the feature contests at both venues.

The easy success of Missy Tata in the feature Irish Independent Hurdle at Limerick will not fill as many column inches as that of Outlander in the Lexus Chase, but it may well be more significant in Cheltenham Festival terms.
