Minstrel holds Court in feature hurdle for the second time

Evan Williams obviously went to the wrong course as he journeyed to Newmarket to see John Constable disappoint in the Cesarewitch whereas if he had stayed at his local he could have cheered home a double with Court Minstrel and Silver Streak.

Court Minstrel landed the valuable Grade 3 Totepool Silver Trophy handicap hurdle two years ago and, though he has not managed to win since, repeated the dose when weaving his way through the field to beat to beat Sam Spinner by half a length.

Williams’ wife Cath said: “I don’t know how he keeps running so well as he is ten years old now but came through to win there like he was a five-year-old all over again. We bought him for just £20,000 quite a few years back and he has been a real star.
