More than 30 members of the The Million In Mind syndicate boosted the bumper bank holiday crowd and reached two notable landmarks when Townshend won the featured 2m4f handicap chase.

Riding for his father Nigel, Sam Twiston-Davies rode a canny race on the 11-4 chance, who was putting a couple of modest efforts behind him.

Syndicate organiser Anthony Bromley said: "The partnership has been going for 27 years and this is the first year that all six horses in the syndicate have won. Also, this tops our best tally of ten wins in a season. As usual, all the horses will be sold at Doncaster next month and then we'll start again.
