Michael Halford reached a milestone when Platinum Warrior took him to 1,000 winners in Ireland by landing the Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes.

The Curragh trainer, who has also enjoyed success in Britain, most notably with Casamento in the Racing Post Trophy, and Dubai, plans to run Platinum Warrior in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby next month.

After Shane Foley had partnered the son of Galileo to a two-and-a-quarter-length win in the 1m2f Group 3, Halford said: "I don't have many Galileos and this colt loved the fast ground. Our horses were slow to come to hand in the early spring and we didn't rush them.
