Racing returned in a completely different form at Lingfield but that did not stop Hollie Doyle and Archie Watson continuing their dominance of the course's two-year-old races with a quickfire double.

Watson has a dazzling 33 per cent strike-rate with his juvenile runners at the track but none of his previous winners made quite the impression of Mighty Gurkha.

The Sepoy colt burst out of the gates, gained a sizable advantage and quickened clear for a dominant seven-and-a-half length win, prompting Paddy Power to make him a 20-1 chance for the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.
