It may have evolved from a hobby that spiralled out of hand but the success story that is Middleham Park Racing reached a significant milestone on a drab afternoon in Surrey as El Kaldoun made it 1,000 winners for the popular syndicate with success in the 2m Polytrack bumper.

Launched in 1995 by former school teacher Tim Palin, Middleham Park Racing has brought racehorse ownership to the masses over the past 23 years, enjoying some notable highs along the way.

Palin's very first horse, all-weather doyen China Castle, won 26 races and £125,000 in prize money and laid the foundations for what has become Britain’s winning most syndicate.
