Thank heavens for 21st century inventions. Microchip technology ensured there was no repeat of the 'wrong horse' fiasco that occurred at Yarmouth in the summer.

Truckers Lodge was due to make his hurdling debut in the conditional jockeys' maiden but was ruled out just over an hour before when it turned out the horse sent up from Tom George's yard was not the smart bumper winner that was expected.

"The horse was scanned and he was not the right horse," said stipendiary steward Anna-Louise Powell.
