Medal Winner defied an alarming drift in the market to cause an upset in the 1m2f maiden for older horses at Brighton as he kept Archie Watson's Lambourn yard among the winners.

As short as 2-1 with bet365 when the market opened on Monday night, Qatar Racing's son of Olympic Glory was friendless in the morning market, touching 14-1 with several firms before returning victorious as the 10-1 outsider of four under Oisin Murphy, the pair six lengths clear of their nearest rival at the line.

It was a 62nd winner of the year on the Flat in Britain and sixth success from 17 runners at Brighton for Watson, although his latest victor could be off to the sales next with an entry at Tattersalls on July 11.
