It took Karen McLintock more than four hours to reach the course but she returned to Northumberland with an intriguing Betfred Cesarewitch contender following Dubawi Fifty’s narrow win in a thrilling finish to the £35,000 Close Brothers Colwick Cup.

Back-to-back victories in the race for Luke Dace’s Ravenous appeared a distinct possibility for most of the home straight, but he was worn down late on by the Paul and Clare Rooney-owned four-year-old, ridden by Graham Lee to a neck victory over Quloob.

McLintock feels the 2m2f handicap at Newmarket on October 14 would suit Dubawi Fifty particularly well.
