McDonald rounds off best ever season in style

PJ McDonald rounded off his finest turf season by landing one final Listed victory on Star Rock.

His defeat of one-time Oaks hope Vintage Folly in the 1m2f fillies' event came at the end of a season in which he has scored pattern race victories on Montaly and Havana Grey - and made a Group 1 breakthrough on Fillies' Mile winner Laurens.

"It's been a brilliant year," reflected the jockey, whose triumph on the Hughie Morrison-trained three-year-old was his 114th in Britain in 2017.
