The choice Barry Geraghty must now make is similar to one not so long ago faced by Sir Anthony McCoy. Ask the former champion what he would do if in Geraghty's boots and he sits on the fence. The tale told by history makes such indecisiveness forgivable.

With both JP McManus and trusted aide Frank Berry absent from Sandown, it was McCoy, elegantly attired in a fashionable crisp suit and overcoat, who collected the winning owner's trophy following the Nicky Henderson-trained Buveur D'Air's victory in the Betfred-backed Contenders Hurdle.
