McCain inches closer to milestone 7lb claim loss after War Defender win

Ella McCain is "counting down the winners" until she loses her 7lb claim after the apprentice moved to within two victories of that target with War Defender's victory in the 7f handicap.

McCain, who is the daughter of jumps trainer Donald, took her career tally to 18 wins with her length success on the three-year-old to inch closer to the milestone of 20 successes, which would see her claim cut to 5lb.

She said: "I was very happy with him. He jumped out of the gates really well and I was worried he was almost travelling too strongly.
