Winning a novice handicap hurdle at Bangor wasn't the job Irish Hawke was bred to do, but nevertheless he achieved it.

A Montjeu half-brother to a couple of Group 2 winners, it was little wonder he attracted plenty of attention when he first went through the ring for he fetched €280,000 at Goffs as a yearling, but although he won a maiden at Lingfield for Luca Cumani on the Flat, he failed to build on that in two subsequent starts.
