Mark Johnston's farrier Justin Landy on the mark with Shetland Bus

Justin Landy, an essential cog in Mark Johnston's prolific operation in Middleham, enjoyed a significant day in his own burgeoning training career at Musselburgh thanks to Shetland Bus, who stayed on resolutely to land the 2m4f handicap hurdle for conditional riders, while stablemate George Gently found only Malystic too strong in the 1m7½f maiden hurdle.

One of the farriers at Johnston's stable, Landy managed to shoe-horn a trip to Scotland into his hectic schedule and was delighted to see Shetland Bus battle back to defeat Cousin Oscar by a neck under Harry Reed.

"Johnny Kington heard him make a noise last time, so we've put a tongue-tie on today and that was absolutely grand," said Landy.
