Adrian Pratt was not complaining about prize-money levels after seeing his recent purchase Maksab give him an immediate return in the £7,246-to-the-winner feature race.

The owner, a racecourse steward for 40 years and former amateur rider, is better known for his jumping exploits, but winning trainer Mick Channon sold him on this winner last Friday.

Scott McCullagh, kept busy with his part in teaching the two-year-old class of 2019 at West Ilsley, was seen to good effect, backing off the speed duel up front between Swift Approval and Confrontational.
