Sceptical came close to giving Denis Hogan his first Group 1 success at Royal Ascot, but there was equal excitement about the season ahead for Make A Challenge, who cruised to success in the Listed Sole Power Sprint Stakes.

The son of Invincible Spirit stamped his class all over this contest run at a furious gallop, and quickened up smartly inside the last to score by two and a half lengths under Joe Doyle.

Hogan was clearly impressed by what he witnessed, as he said: "He was class today. His run at Ascot on Champions Day last year was very good when he got gobbled up late on over the six. Like Sceptical, he's a five [furlong] horse and keeping them apart will be the biggest problem!"
