Lowther Stakes next for Madeline after decisive Listed win

Albany Stakes fifth Madeline earned herself a crack at next month's Sky Bet Lowther Stakes at York after beating Natural by two and a quarter lengths in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes.

The first filly since 1998 to win a race taken recently by both Limato and Tasleet, she lacks the physique of the runner-up yet trainer Roger Varian understandably believes her future is bright, for the remainder of the year at least.

Varian said: "The Albany is working out particularly well this year and I actually thought Madeline was unlucky not to win the race on her side that day. This was a nice performance, and I think we beat the right one as they think quite a bit of Natural.
